Job summary

Pivotal Engineering Pty Ltd in Brisbane seeks a dynamic Control Systems Engineer with Ignition SCADA experience to design, develop and maintain industrial control systems for mining, heavy industry and utilities. You will contribute to safety, innovation and collaboration within the engineering team.

You will lead PLC/RTU/HMI/SCADA programming, validate systems on client sites, and work across mechanical, electrical and software disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Electrical, Electronics or Mechatronic Engineering.
• Minimum five years of control systems design and development experience.
• Minimum two years of Ignition SCADA experience.
• Strong understanding of control systems theory and industrial processes.
• Experience with Ignition, Plant SCADA and FactoryTalk View.
• PLC programming on Schneider Electric, Allen-Bradley or Siemens.
• Knowledge of PLC networks and protocols (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, OPC UA, MQTT).
• Design and deployment of SCADA systems including architecture and scripting.
• Experience integrating SCADA with databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, InfluxDB).
• Familiar with Docker and Kubernetes; excellent communication and teamwork.
• Experience on client sites.

Responsibilities

• Full lifecycle of control system development.
• Conceptual design and front-end engineering design.
• Documentation including specifications and manuals.
• PLC, RTU, HMI and SCADA programming and testing.
• Commission and validate control systems to meet requirements.
• Develop and implement control algorithms to optimise performance.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical and software engineers.
• Provide technical guidance through design, development and testing.
• Develop and implement standards for control systems engineering.
