Job summary

Exodus Foundation in Sydney is seeking a passionate and creative Chef to join Crews Café team. This casual position based in Ashfield offers 12–20 hours per week across weekday shifts, with opportunities to shape the menu and use seasonal and donated produce.

You will take ownership of day-to-day food preparation and café service, develop specials, maintain high food safety standards, and work with staff and volunteers to deliver a welcoming, dignified experience for people from all walks of

Qualifications

• Experience in a commercial kitchen or café environment.
• Ability to manage day-to-day operations in a small kitchen.
• Experience with menu development and food cost management.
• Current Food Safety Supervisor Certificate or willingness to obtain one.
• Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene and safe kitchen practices.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Reliable and flexible across weekday shifts.
• Ability to work with staff, volunteers and people from diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook food for daily café service.
• Create and rotate daily and weekly specials.
• Develop a refreshed menu suited to the community.
• Bring fresh ideas to the kitchen and improve offerings.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised kitchen.
• Manage stock levels and minimise food waste.
• Use seasonal and donated produce creatively.
• Monitor food quality, presentation and consistency.
• Collaborate with staff and volunteers to support café operations.
• Contribute to a positive, inclusive workplace culture.
