We're looking for an enthusiastic, compassionate and community-minded Community Engagement & Tenant Support Coordinator who is passionate about making a positive difference in people's lives.
This is an exciting opportunity to work directly with Aboriginal tenants, families and communities, helping people feel connected, supported and empowered to maintain successful tenancies.
You'll play a key role in building relationships, understanding community needs, coordinating practical support and developing initiatives that strengthen tenant wellbeing and community participation.
We're looking for someone who enjoys getting out into the community, connecting with people, finding solutions and turning good ideas into meaningful outcomes.
This is more than a coordination role - it's an opportunity to build genuine connections and make a lasting difference.
As our Community Engagement & Tenant Support Coordinator, you'll work closely with tenants, community organisations, support services and our Housing Services team.
Your responsibilities will include:
Community Engagement - Build strong, positive relationships with Aboriginal tenants, families, Local Aboriginal Land Councils and community organisations.
Tenant Support - Work with tenants to identify challenges, coordinate practical assistance and connect people with appropriate services and support.
Community Programs - Help develop and coordinate activities, events and initiatives that encourage tenant participation, connection and wellbeing.
Supporting Successful Tenancies - Work alongside Housing Officers to identify emerging issues early, connect tenants with assistance and support positive housing outcomes.
Partnerships & Referrals - Develop relationships with local health, employment, education, family and community services to improve access to support.
Tenant Voice & Participation - Encourage tenant feedback, listen to community priorities and help ensure tenant experiences inform improvements to our services.
Communication & Advocacy - Help tenants understand their housing services, access information and navigate available support options.
Coordination & Reporting - Maintain accurate records, coordinate follow-up activities and help demonstrate the impact of community engagement and tenant support initiatives.
We're looking for someone who is approachable, energetic, organised and genuinely enjoys working with people.
You’ll ideally bring:
Strong communication, interpersonal and relationship‑building skills.
Experience in community engagement, tenant support, community services, housing or a related field.
A sound understanding of Aboriginal communities, cultural protocols and the importance of culturally safe and respectful services.
The ability to build trust and maintain positive relationships with people from diverse backgrounds.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to coordinate multiple activities and priorities.
A practical, solutions‑focused approach to supporting individuals and families.
Confidence using computers, maintaining records and preparing basic reports.
The ability to work independently, take initiative and contribute positively to a team.
Professional judgment, discretion and the ability to maintain appropriate boundaries and confidentiality.
Qualifications in Community Services, Social Housing, Community Development or a related discipline would be highly regarded, although relevant practical experience and community knowledge are equally valued.
Experience working with Aboriginal families, community-controlled organisations or social housing providers would be an advantage.
We believe successful housing is about more than providing a home. It's about creating stability, strengthening connections and helping families and communities thrive.
You’ll have the opportunity to help develop new community initiatives, strengthen relationships with tenants and local services, and contribute to better outcomes for Aboriginal families across our region.
We value people who are proactive, compassionate, reliable and committed to following through on their promises.
If you're passionate about Aboriginal communities, enjoy bringing people together and want a role where your work genuinely changes lives, we'd love to hear from you.
This opportunity is exclusively for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants.
