Job summary

Responsibilities

• Provide administrative support including note-taking, records management and collateral coordination.
• Manage multiple priorities using project management tools.
• Coordinate procurement of communication and design services from external partners.
• Source imagery for use across materials.
• Stay updated on design and communications trends to produce accessible content.
• Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Provide responsive, customer-focused design and communications support.

We are seeking an experienced Communications Officer (Design Support) to join a large State Government agency based on the Gold Coast.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a strong mix of communications, graphic design and administrative skills who enjoys working across varied projects and managing competing priorities.

You will support the delivery of engaging, professional and accessible communication materials while working closely with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide communication, design and administrative support across a range of stakeholder engagement activities.
• Design and produce professional communication materials including project maps, flyers, fact sheets, newsletters, infographics, plans, reports and presentations.
• Ensure communication materials are consistent with corporate branding, visual identity and style guidelines.
• Provide administrative support including note taking, document and records management, database maintenance and coordination of communication collateral.
• Manage multiple priorities and shared workloads using relevant systems, processes and project management tools.
• Coordinate the procurement of communication and design products and services from external contractors and suppliers.
• Research, source and coordinate imagery for use across communication materials.
• Keep up to date with emerging trends in visual design and communications to help produce contemporary and accessible content.
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
• Provide responsive, customer-focused communication and design support.

About You To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

• Previous experience in a communications, design or similar role, ideally within a large or complex organisation.
• Strong graphic design and document layout skills, with the ability to create polished and engaging communication materials.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work within established branding and style guidelines.
• Excellent organisation skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines and priorities.
• Confidence working with a range of stakeholders at different levels.
• Strong administrative and records management skills.
• A proactive and collaborative approach with a strong focus on customer service.
• An understanding of contemporary, accessible and audience-focused communication practices.

The Opportunity

This is a full-time contract commencing 9 November 2026 through to May 2027, with the possibility of extension.

Pay Rate: $62.00 - $68.93 per hour + Super
