Job summary

Delaware North Australia & New Zealand is hiring a casual Commis Chef to join the banquets team at Mindil Beach Casino Resort in Darwin, NT. You will work alongside senior chefs in a high-volume kitchen, contributing to menu prep, presentation, and food safety.

Qualifications include a Minimum Level 3 Certificate in Commercial Cookery and a Food Safety certificate, with a willingness to obtain at onboarding; you should be available to roster over a 7-day period, including weekends and evenings.

Delaware North Australia is hiring a casual Commis Chef to join our banquets team at Mindil Beach Casino Resort in Darwin, NT. As a Commis Chef, you will be responsible for collaborating with senior chefs to create dishes that make a lasting impression. What will you do?

• Prepare a range of dishes in a high-volume production setting


• Follow recipes for menu preparation, ensuring adherence to cooking guidelines and standards


• Execute food preparation tasks, showcasing expertise in food presentation


• Maintain consistent cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen area


• Ensure HACCP and WHS compliance, displaying a strong commitment to meeting Food Safety standards including conducting temperature and quality checks and effectively managing cross-contamination

More About You

• Previous experience as a Commis Chef is required and proven experience in an a' la carte restaurant or function service is preferred


• Solid background in kitchen operations


• Minimum Level 3 Certificate in Commercial Cookery and a Food Safety certificate, or willing to obtain at onboarding


• A passion for food and creative flair


• Demonstrated track record meeting financial targets for food and labor costs


• Available to be rostered over a 7-day roster including, weekends, evenings/nights and public holidays if required
