Job summary

Delaware North Australia & New Zealand is seeking a Commis Chef to join Lizard Island Resort. You will work with senior chefs in a high-volume kitchen to prepare dishes that contribute to a premium guest experience.

The role requires a Minimum Level 3 Certificate in Commercial Cookery and a Food Safety certificate (or willingness to obtain on onboarding), plus proven kitchen experience in an a’la carte setting.

• Willingness to obtain Level 2/3 Food Safety certificates on onboarding
• Passion for food and creative flair
• Demonstrated ability to meet financial targets for food and labor costs

Responsibilities

• Prepare a range of dishes in a high-volume production setting
• Follow recipes for menu preparation, ensuring adherence to cooking guidelines and standards
• Execute food preparation tasks, showcasing expertise in food presentation
• Maintain consistent cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen area
• Ensure HACCP and WHS compliance, including temperature and quality checks and managing cross-contamination

What will you do?

• Prepare a range of dishes in a high-volume production setting

More About You

• Previous experience as a Commis Chef is required and proven experience in an a' la carte restaurant or function service is preferred
• Solid background in kitchen operations
• Minimum Level 3 Certificate in Commercial Cookery and a Food Safety certificate, or willing to obtain at onboarding
• A passion for food and creative flair
• Demonstrated track record meeting financial targets for food and labor costs
