Job summary

Delaware North Australia is hiring a Commis Chef to join our team at Lizard Island Resort. You will collaborate with senior chefs to create dishes and contribute to a 5-star guest experience in a vibrant kitchen.

The ideal candidate has prior Commis Chef experience, a Level 3 Certificate in Commercial Cookery and a Food Safety certificate, and a passion for food with a flair for presentation. Onboarding includes training and development opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare a range of dishes in a high-volume production setting.
• Follow recipes for menu preparation and adhere to cooking guidelines.
• Execute food preparation tasks with a focus on presentation.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen area.
• Ensure HACCP and WHS compliance and conduct temperature/quality checks.

What you will do?

• Prepare a range of dishes in a high-volume production setting
• Follow recipes for menu preparation, ensuring adherence to cooking guidelines and standards
• Execute food preparation tasks, showcasing expertise in food presentation
• Maintain consistent cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen area
• Ensure HACCP and WHS compliance, displaying a strong commitment to meeting Food Safety standards including conducting temperature and quality checks and effectively managing cross-contamination

More about you

• Previous experience as a Commis Chef is required and proven experience in an a' la carte restaurant or function service is preferred
• Solid background in kitchen operations
• Minimum Level 3 Certificate in Commercial Cookery and a Food Safety certificate, or willing to obtain at onboarding
• A passion for food and creative flair
• Demonstrated track record meeting financial targets for food and labor costs
