Job summary

Delaware North Australia & New Zealand is hiring a Commis Chef to join Lizard Island Resort. You will support senior chefs, prepare dishes in a high-volume kitchen, and contribute to exceptional dining experiences on the Great Barrier Reef.

You will follow recipes, ensure food safety, HACCP and WHS compliance, and maintain cleanliness. A Level 3 Commercial Cookery certificate and Food Safety certification are required or obtained on onboarding.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Commis Chef is required.
• Minimum Level 3 Certificate in Commercial Cookery and a Food Safety certificate, or willing to obtain at onboarding.
• A passion for food and creative flair.
• Demonstrated track record meeting financial targets for food and labor costs.

Responsibilities

• Prepare a range of dishes in a high-volume production setting.
• Follow recipes for menu preparation, ensuring adherence to cooking guidelines and standards.
• Execute food preparation tasks, showcasing expertise in food presentation.
• Maintain consistent cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen area.
• Ensure HACCP and WHS compliance, displaying a strong commitment to meeting Food Safety standards including conducting temperature and quality checks and effectively managing cross-contamination.
