Job summary

IHG Hotels & Resorts is seeking a Full-time Commis Chef in Canberra to help run a smooth kitchen operation. You will support senior chefs, prepare and present dishes, and ensure food safety and high hygiene standards.

Qualifications

• Food Safety Certificate required.
• Knowledge of safe handling and lifting procedures desired.

Responsibilities

• Support delivery of exceptional dining experiences representing venue values.
• Prepare, present and store dishes per standards.
• Communicate courteously with guests, colleagues and other departments.
• Escalate guest feedback to senior chefs promptly.
• Ensure ingredients, materials and equipment are prepared and organised before service.
• Support cost control through accurate portioning and reduced waste.
• Follow standard recipes to maintain consistency in taste, quality and presentation.
• Work across kitchen sections and rotating rosters including weekends and public holidays.
• Maintain high standards of presentation, hygiene and conduct.
• Support junior staff and kitchen hands to foster a positive team environment.
• Attend daily briefings and relevant training and development activities.
• Rotate through kitchen stations to contribute to a flexible team.
