Job summary

Panthers Port Macquarie is seeking a motivated Commis Chef to join our busy kitchen and learn under an experienced team. You will assist with food preparation, presentation and service for members and guests across our dining operations, while upholding food safety, quality and kitchen organisation.

The Opportunity

As a Commis Chef at Port Macquarie Panthers, you’ll have the opportunity to develop your culinary skills while working alongside an experienced and supportive kitchen team. You’ll assist with food preparation, cooking and presentation across our busy dining operations, while learning industry best practice in food safety, quality and kitchen organisation. This is an ideal opportunity for an enthusiastic emerging chef who is eager to build their experience, contribute to a positive team environment and grow their career within a well-established hospitality venue.

What you'll be doing

• Food preparation, presentation and service to our members and guests;
• Catering for functions and various events;
• Stock management duties including stock takes and recording wastage;
• Accepting food deliveries, checking stock and ensure the safe storage of products;
• Cleaning duties within kitchen area to ensure the kitchen is well presented and cleaned at all times and;
• Practice compliant food health and safety through safe storage and utilising FIFO principles.

To be successful in this role, you will possess

• At least 2-3 years’ experience working in a busy kitchen environment;
• Commercial Cookery Trade Qualification;
• Previous function catering experience;
• Fantastic communication skills;
• Strong attention to detail;
• A good level of physical fitness as the role entails lifting and carrying kitchen items;
• Positive attitude and the ability to work well under pressure;
• Strong commitment to your customers and team and;
• Passion and enthusiasm for delivering the best food service for our customers
