Job summary

Port Macquarie Panthers is seeking a Cook to develop culinary skills and work within our busy kitchen team. You’ll assist with food preparation, cooking and presentation while learning food safety, quality and kitchen organisation.

The role is ideal for an enthusiastic emerging cook eager to build experience, contribute to a positive team, and grow within a well-established hospitality venue.

Qualifications

• Experience in a busy kitchen preferred.
• Previous function catering experience is a plus.
• Good communication and teamwork are essential.
• Willingness to lift and carry kitchen items daily.
• Positive attitude and ability to stay composed under pressure.
• Commitment to food safety and quality practices.

Responsibilities

• Food preparation, presentation and service to members and guests.
• Catering for functions and events.
• Stock management including stock takes and wastage recording.
• Accepting deliveries, checking stock and storage of products.
• Kitchen cleaning and presentation to maintain hygiene.
• Apply FIFO principles and food health and safety practices.

The Opportunity

As a Cook at Port Macquarie Panthers, you’ll have the opportunity to develop your culinary skills while working alongside an experienced and supportive kitchen team. You’ll assist with food preparation, cooking and presentation across our busy dining operations, while learning industry best practice in food safety, quality and kitchen organisation. What You'll Be Doing

• Food preparation, presentation and service to our members and guests;
• Catering for functions and various events;
• Stock management duties including stock takes and recording wastage;
• Accepting food deliveries, checking stock and ensure the safe storage of products;
• Cleaning duties within kitchen area to ensure the kitchen is well presented and cleaned at all times and;
• Practice compliant food health and safety through safe storage and utilising FIFO principles.

To be successful in this role, you will possess

• Some experience working in a busy kitchen environment;
• Previous function catering experience;
• Fantastic communication skills;
• Strong attention to detail;
• A good level of physical fitness as the role entails lifting and carrying kitchen items;
• Positive attitude and the ability to work well under pressure;
• Strong commitment to your customers and team and;
• Passion and enthusiasm for delivering the best food service for our customers
