Job summary

Wrest Point in Hobart is seeking a casual Commis Chef to work across our dining outlets, from the upmarket bistro to the Point Revolving Restaurant. You will prepare dishes using Tasmania's finest produce and learn from a diverse culinary team.

Ideal candidates have kitchen experience, understand quality produce, and can work weekends and evenings. Full Australian working rights are required.

Qualifications

• Experience in a fast-paced commercial kitchen, ideally within hospitality.
• Strong understanding of quality produce and kitchen operations.
• Ability to work independently and in a high-performing team.
• Full Australian working rights with availability to work across a rotating roster, including weekends, evenings and public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Prepare a range of dishes using Tasmania's finest produce.
• Work alongside our diverse culinary team across outlets, from the bistro to the Point Revolving Restaurant.
• Develop culinary skills across different cuisines and service styles.

What you can expect in a day in this role:

As a casual Commis Chef, you will prepare a range of dishes using Tasmania's finest produce and freshest local ingredients while working alongside our diverse and skilled culinary team. You'll have the opportunity to develop your skills across a variety of dining outlets, from our upmarket bistro through to the iconic Point Revolving Restaurant, gaining exposure to different cuisines, techniques and service styles while building your career with one of Tasmania's leading hospitality groups.

What you will bring to the role:

• Demonstrated experience working in a fast-paced commercial kitchen, ideally within a hotel, restaurant or large hospitality venue
• Strong understanding of quality produce, food preparation techniques and kitchen operations
• Passion for creating memorable dining experiences for guests
• Ability to work independently when required while contributing positively to a high-performing team
• Commercial Cookery Certificate III or higher
• Full Australian working rights with availability to work across a rotating roster, including weekends, evenings and public holidays
