Job summary

Sharp & Carter is seeking an experienced Collections Officer for a 6-month temporary contract in Brisbane. The role focuses on recovering aged debt, negotiating payment plans, and maximizing cash collections across a high-volume portfolio.

You will manage disputes, liaise with internal teams, and maintain accurate records of collection activities. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in high-volume collections and strong negotiation skills, with the ability to hit the ground

• Proven aged debt recovery and collection of overdue invoices.
• Ability to negotiate payment arrangements and secure payments.
• Experience managing a large debtor portfolio.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills for difficult conversations.
• Available for a 6-month temporary contract.

Responsibilities

• Manage a high-volume portfolio of overdue accounts and aged debt.
• Proactively contact customers to follow up overdue invoices and secure payment.
• Negotiate payment plans and arrangements to facilitate debt recovery.
• Prioritise aged debt based on value, risk and recovery potential.
• Investigate and resolve account queries, invoice discrepancies and payment disputes.
• Monitor aged debtor reports and maintain accurate records of collection activities.
• Follow up on broken payment promises and outstanding commitments.
• Build professional relationships with customers while managing difficult conversations.
• Liaise with internal stakeholders to resolve outstanding account issues.
• Escalate high-risk and long-outstanding accounts as required.
• Provide regular updates on collection progress and recovery targets.
• Work towards cash collection targets in a fast-paced environment.

The Opportunity

An exciting temporary opportunity has become available for an experienced Collections Officer to join a well-established organisation based in Brisbane. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong collections experience who can hit the ground running and drive the recovery of a high-volume in outstanding debt over a 6-month contract.

The Role

Reporting to the relevant manager, you'll be responsible for managing a high-volume portfolio of overdue accounts, focusing on aged debt recovery, negotiating with customers and maximising cash collections across the business.

• Proactively contact customers to follow up overdue invoices and secure payment
• Negotiate payment plans and arrangements to facilitate debt recovery

About You

• Previous experience in a high-volume collections or credit control position
• Proven experience in aged debt recovery and collecting overdue invoices
• Demonstrated ability to negotiate payment arrangements and secure outstanding payments
• Experience managing a large portfolio of debtor accounts
• Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the confidence to have difficult conversations
• Ability to hit the ground running and commit to a 6-month temporary contract
