Job summary

Melbourne Builders Poles in Melbourne, VIC, is seeking a Collections Officer – Accounts Receivable to own the day-to-day management of outstanding invoices and payment progress. This hands-on role involves regular outbound contact with customers and a target-driven approach to reduce aged debt.

You will use QuickBooks and dedicated CRM systems to chase payments, negotiate payment arrangements, and provide regular updates to management on collection progress.

Qualifications

• Experience in debt collection or accounts receivable in high-volume outbound environments.
• Proven ability to contact customers and follow up on overdue payments.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to handle objections and negotiate payment plans.
• Excellent attention to detail and accurate record-keeping.

Collections Officer – Accounts Receivable

This is a hands-on collections position involving regular outbound customer contact throughout the day. You will take ownership of the accounts receivable and collections process, managing outstanding balances and working towards collection targets.

Key responsibilities

Contact customers daily regarding overdue invoices and outstanding payments

Manage accounts receivable and follow up outstanding balances through phone calls, emails and SMS

Process payments and send payment links to customers

Maintain accurate customer account records using QuickBooks

Use dedicated calling and CRM systems to manage collections activity

Negotiate payment arrangements and resolve account queries professionally

Track outstanding invoices, prioritise overdue accounts and follow up consistently

Work towards weekly and monthly collection targets

Provide regular updates to management on outstanding accounts and payment progress

About you

Previous experience in debt collection, accounts receivable or a high-volume outbound calling environment

Excellent communication skills and confidence speaking with customers over the phone

A persistent, organised and results-driven attitude

Ability to confidently handle objections and difficult conversations

Strong attention to detail and excellent follow-up skills

Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software is highly regarded

Ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities
