Job summary

yourtown is seeking an experienced Cloud Engineer to shape and support its cloud and hybrid infrastructure in Australia. You will design, secure, and optimise Azure platforms while driving automation and DevOps practices across the organisation. Join a team delivering technology that supports communities nationwide.

You will partner with stakeholders, lead technical initiatives, and contribute to 24/7 on-call support for critical systems, ensuring performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.

Qualifications

• Proven experience designing and supporting Azure and hybrid cloud environments.
• Hands-on with Infrastructure as Code, Terraform.
• Experience building automation and deployment solutions using Azure DevOps, Azure CLI and PowerShell.

your opportunity

We're looking for an experienced Cloud Engineer to help shape and support yourtown's cloud and hybrid infrastructure environment. Working within our Information, Digital & Technology team, you'll play a key role in designing, securing and optimising our Azure platform while driving automation and DevOps practices across the organisation. This is an opportunity to work on meaningful technology initiatives that directly support services delivered to young people and families across Australia, while contributing to the ongoing modernisation of our technology environment.

In this role you will:

• Design, implement and support Azure and hybrid cloud infrastructure solutions.
• Drive Infrastructure as Code and automation initiatives using Terraform, Bicep and Azure automation tools.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and contribute to DevOps best practices across the organisation.
• Monitor, troubleshoot and optimise cloud services to ensure performance, reliability and cost effectiveness.
• Strengthen cloud security, governance and compliance controls across Azure and hybrid environments.
• Manage and support identity services across Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID environments.
• Partner with technical and business stakeholders to deliver scalable and practical technology solutions.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring and knowledge sharing within the team.
• Participate in a shared on call roster with a team of six, providing 24/7 support for critical systems.

what we are looking for

• Proven experience designing and supporting Azure and hybrid cloud environments.
• Strong knowledge of Azure infrastructure, networking, security, monitoring and governance services.
• Hands on experience with Infrastructure as Code, particularly Terraform.
• Experience building automation and deployment solutions using Azure DevOps, Azure CLI and PowerShell.
• Strong understanding of Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID and identity management practices.
• Knowledge of cloud security, resilience, compliance and cost optimisation principles.
• Well developed problem solving skills and the ability to work through complex technical challenges.
• Azure certifications, or progress towards them, will be highly regarded.
• Experience working within an ISO 27001-certified environment or a comparable information security governance framework.
