Job summary

Early Start Australia Pty is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to support our national network of clinics and hubs across Australia. The role combines hands-on delivery with problem‑solving to advance Microsoft 365, cloud, networking, and security across modern workplace platforms.

You will own technical initiatives, mentor engineers, and help shape platform direction, driving reliability, security, and scalable solutions that enable clinicians and support teams to deliver outstanding

Qualifications

• At least 3 years’ experience in a senior infrastructure engineering role within a medium to large enterprise environment.
• Hands-on Microsoft 365 technologies including Entra, Defender XDR, Intune, Exchange Online, SharePoint and Teams.
• Proficiency with Azure services (Compute, Storage, networking, security).
• Strong identity and access management knowledge (Conditional Access, PIM, identity collaboration).
• PowerShell scripting and automation skills.
• Experience supporting enterprise network infrastructure (VPNs, Firewalls, switching, WiFi).
• Experience delivering technical projects in complex environments and strong problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, support, and improve Microsoft 365, cloud, and infrastructure platforms.
• Act as the senior escalation point for complex infrastructure, networking, security, and Microsoft 365 incidents.
• Identify risks and implement improvements for security, reliability, and performance.
• Lead technical projects from planning and design through to implementation.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technology solutions.
• Create and maintain architecture diagrams, as-built documentation, and operational procedures.
• Mentor and coach junior engineers, promoting best practices.
• Contribute to infrastructure standards, governance, and security controls.

As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting the technology environment used across our national network of clinics and hubs. You will provide advanced technical expertise across Microsoft 365, cloud, networking, security, and modern workplace technologies.

This is a hands-on, senior role combining complex problem-solving, project delivery, and continuous improvement. You will take ownership of technical initiatives, strengthen the reliability and security of our environment, mentor junior team members, and help shape the future direction of our modern workplace and cloud platforms.

Your work will directly support our clinicians and business support teams, enabling them to deliver exceptional outcomes for clients across Australia.

What You’ll Do

Contribute to the design, implementation, support, and continuous improvement of Microsoft 365, cloud, and infrastructure platforms across the organisation.

Act as the senior escalation point for complex infrastructure, networking, security, and Microsoft 365 related incidents and problems.

Proactively identify risks, opportunities, and recurring issues, implementing improvements that strengthen the security, reliability, and performance of the environment.

Lead technical projects from planning and design through to implementation, ensuring successful delivery of business and technology outcomes.

Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into practical, scalable technology solutions.

Create and maintain high-quality technical documentation, including solution designs, architecture diagrams, as-built documentation, knowledge articles, and operational procedures.

Mentor and coach junior engineers, sharing knowledge, promoting best practices, and helping build technical capability across the team.

Contribute to infrastructure standards, governance, security controls, and continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring alignment with organisational and industry best practices.

What You’ll Bring

Required Experience/Skills

At least 3 years’ experience in a senior infrastructure engineering role within a medium to large enterprise environment.

Strong hands-on experience administering Microsoft 365 technologies, including Entra, Defender XDR, Intune, Exchange Online, SharePoint and Teams.

Proficiency working with Azure services (Compute, Storage, networking, security).

Strong knowledge of identity and access management, including Conditional Access, Privileged Identity Management, and identity collaboration solutions.

Strong PowerShell scripting and automation skills.

Demonstrated experience supporting network infrastructure within an enterprise environment, including VPNs, Firewalls, switching infrastructure and WiFi.

Proven ability to analyse complex technical issues, identify root causes, and deliver practical solutions.

Proven experience delivering technical projects in complex environments.

Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with a commitment to learning and professional development.

Experience supporting Salesforce based solutions.

Experience using ServiceNow for IT service management, including incident and request fulfilment, knowledge management, and IT asset management.

Experience with Multi-Tenant Organisation (MTO), B2B collaboration, and single sign-on solutions.

Knowledge of relevant security frameworks such as ASD Essential 8, and Microsoft security and compliance capabilities.

Experience working in a geographically distributed, multi-site organisation.

Relevant Microsoft certifications such as Microsoft 365, Azure, Security or Endpoint Administrator certifications.

ITIL certification or experience working within structured IT service management environments.
