Job summary

St Joseph's Primary School is a welcoming community within the Catholic Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn Education Limited (CACGEL). The Classroom Support Assistant helps create an inclusive learning environment by partnering with teachers to support students, including those with diverse needs.

The role focuses on participation, confidence-building and social-emotional development. This part-time position (30 to 55 hours per fortnight) is negotiable on start date and eligibility is limited

Qualifications

• WWVP clearance is required.
• Certificate III in School-based Education Support or active ITE in teaching.
• Accreditation to Work, Teach and Lead in Catholic Education Canberra and Goulburn.

Responsibilities

• Support students individually and in small groups under supervision.
• Modify tasks and use strategies to boost confidence, independence and social-emotional growth.
• Collaborate with teachers and specialist teams to implement personalized adjustments.

About the Role

The Classroom Support Assistant plays a key role in creating an inclusive and nurturing learning environment by partnering with teachers to support student participation, especially those with diverse learning needs. This position involves providing targeted support to individuals and small groups, modifying learning tasks, and encouraging the use of strategies that enhance students’ confidence, independence, and social-emotional development. The Classroom Support Assistant works closely with teachers and specialist teams to implement personalised adjustments that help students reach their academic potential and actively engage in the wider school community.

This position involves working with children.

Qualifications

• ACT Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) clearance
• Certificate III in School-based Education Support or be undertaking an Initial Teacher Education (ITE) university program of study or experience as Classroom and Learning Support Assistant
• Accreditation in accordance with the Accreditation to Work, Teach and Lead in Catholic Education Canberra and Goulburn policy
