Job summary

TAL Services Limited in Sydney, NSW, is seeking a Claims Consultant to manage life insurance claims end-to-end within our Group Multi fund. You will interpret legacy policy terms and coordinate with advisers, trustees and fund administrators to deliver timely, accurate entitlements and a seamless customer experience.

The role focuses on complex Group policies with IP/TPD, requires careful analysis of policy changes, and strong stakeholder communication.

Qualifications

• Experience managing life insurance group policy claims.
• IP/TPD claims experience preferred.
• Workers compensation or return-to-work experience with allied health background.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and time-management skills.
• Excellent communication and empathy for customers.
• Solid understanding of injuries, illnesses and treatment.

Responsibilities

• Provide best-in-class customer and client experience, including regular communication on claim status and managing expectations.
• Independently manage a portfolio of TPD and IP claims end-to-end.
• Assess, analyse, calculate and finalise claims payments.
• Engage external treating doctors, rehabilitation consultants and in-house medical/legal specialists to deliver timely outcomes for customers.
• Provide exceptional customer service in line with our philosophy, policies and claims procedures.
• Participate in case conferences, peer discussions, and instruct third party service providers.

Job description

As a Claims Consultant within our Group space for our Group Multi fund, you will manage life insurance claims from start to finish, providing a seamless experience for our customers.

The Group Multi portfolio is considered one of the most complex due to the age and variability of policy terms. As such, this role requires careful interpretation of legacy policy terms and multiple layers of policy changes to accurately determine member entitlement.

In this role you will:

• A key focus of this role involves providing a best-in‑class customer and client (e.g. advisers, trustees, fund administrators) experience, including regular communication in relation to the status of claims and managing expectations, to deliver on quality health and claim outcomes.
• Independently managing a portfolio of TPD and IP claims end‑to‑end
• Assess, analyse, calculate and finalise claims payments
• Active engagement of external treating doctors, rehabilitation consultants as well as in house medical and legal specialists and delivering timely outcomes for our customer
• Provide exceptional customer service in accordance with our philosophy, policy and claims procedures
• Participate in case conferences, peer case discussions, and instructing third party service providers

Qualifications:

• Life insurance claims management experience within Group policy - IP and/or TPD claims experience is ideal OR;
• Workers Compensation or Return to Work claims management experience with an Allied Health background
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving & time‑management skills
• Excellent communication & empathy to support customers during challenging times.
