Job summary

Lake Macquarie City Council offers a 2-year Civil Construction Apprenticeship at its Works Depot, with travel to sites across Lake Macquarie. You’ll complete a Certificate III in Civil Construction while earning a wage and gaining practical, hands-on experience in roads, drainage, and public spaces.

You’ll study with full support, rotate across teams, and qualify in a sought-after civil construction skillset with on-the-job and classroom training.

Qualifications

• Completion of Year 10 (or equivalent) with satisfactory results in English and Mathematics.
• White Card (Construction Induction Card) or ability to obtain one before commencing.
• Current Provisional Driver Licence (P1 or P2).
• Positive attitude towards workplace health and safety.
• Ability to undertake manual and physical work outdoors.
• Willingness to learn new skills and gain technical knowledge in civil construction.

Responsibilities

• Assist with road, footpath and cycleway construction and maintenance.
• Support drainage, kerb and gutter works.
• Assist with concreting and asphalt repairs.
• Participate in landscaping and environmental restoration projects.
• Support traffic management and site safety practices.
• Read plans and support construction projects as part of a team.
• Adhere to quality, environmental and WHS requirements.
