Job summary

Lake Macquarie City Council is offering a 2-year Civil Construction Apprenticeship. You will work with experienced teams to build, maintain and improve roads, footpaths, drainage, and public spaces while completing a Certificate III in Civil Construction with full support throughout the apprenticeship.

Through a combination of on-the-job training and formal study, you will learn to safely use tools, equipment, and machinery and gain practical skills for a successful civil construction career.

Qualifications

• Completion of Year 10 (Record of School Achievement) or equivalent, with satisfactory results in English and Mathematics.
• White Card (Construction Induction Card) or ability to obtain one before commencing.
• Current Provisional Driver Licence (P1 or P2).
• Positive attitude towards workplace health and safety.
• Willingness to learn new skills and gain technical knowledge in civil construction.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexibility and commitment to completing the required qualification within the apprenticeship term.
• Sound computer literacy skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in building roads, footpaths, cycleways and drainage.
• Work across different teams and projects.
• Learn to safely use tools, equipment, and machinery.
• Read plans and support construction projects.
• Undertake works with quality, environmental and WHS requirements.
