Charlestown Chiropractic is an established, holistic chiropractic practice that has been part of the Newcastle community for over 10 years.

We pride ourselves on providing a high level of personalised care and creating genuine, long term relationships with our clients. Our approach has continued to evolve over the years and extends beyond traditional chiropractic care, with a strong focus on the nervous system and the connection between physical, emotional and somatic wellbeing.

Alongside chiropractic care, our work incorporates nervous system focused, somatic and energetic approaches. We also facilitate somatic breathwork and energetic events and retreats exploring nervous system regulation, emotional processing, body awareness and the ways our experiences can be held and processed through the body.

We are a small, close knit team and have created a warm and welcoming practice where people feel known, cared for and genuinely supported.

About the Role

We are looking for a Chiropractic Assistant / Receptionist to become a valued, long term member of our team.

This is an important client facing role and you will often be the first point of contact for someone entering or enquiring with our practice. More than simply managing reception, we are looking for someone who enjoys connecting with people, building genuine rapport and contributing to an exceptional experience from the moment someone walks through our door.

Key responsibilities

• Answering and making telephone calls
• Managing appointments
• Processing payments
• Using computer based practice software
• Following established office procedures
• Supporting the smooth running of the practice
• Maintaining a welcoming and well presented clinic environment
• Interacting with children and occasionally holding or entertaining a baby while their parent receives care

Clinic Hours

Monday: 8:30am to 11:30am and 2:15pm to 6:30pm
Tuesday: 8am to 12pm
Wednesday: 2:15pm to 6:30pm
Thursday: 8:30am to 12pm and 2:45pm to 6:30pm
Friday: 8am to 12pm

This is a casual position of approximately 8 to 12 hours per week, initially across Thursday and Friday, with the opportunity to provide additional cover for team leave and sickness when required. However, once we have found the right person, there may be some flexibility in how regular hours are shared across the team.

As our clinic operates split shifts, this role may be particularly well suited to someone who lives locally or is comfortable travelling to and from Charlestown for shifts.

About You

For us, finding the right person is more important than finding a particular skill set.

You will be someone who genuinely enjoys building client relationships and naturally takes an interest in making others feel welcome and cared for. You are warm and approachable while remaining professional, and you understand that excellent customer service often comes down to noticing the little things.

A genuine personal interest in health and wellbeing, and an openness to the type of work we do, is essential for this role. You don’t need previous chiropractic, somatic or energetic experience, but we are looking for someone who naturally connects with the values and approach of our practice.

Because of the nature of our work, clients may occasionally leave an appointment feeling emotional or still processing their experience. You will need to be comfortable around this, able to remain warm and grounded, and respectful of each person’s individual experience without feeling the need to fix or change it.

Previous reception or customer service experience or familiarity with Cliniko would be an advantage, but neither is essential. Full training and support will be provided.

Most importantly, we would love to find someone who is looking for a small, consistent role they can genuinely enjoy and who can see themselves becoming part of our practice for the longer term.

Commencement

Ideally, we are looking for someone who can commence relatively soon. However, our current team member is transitioning into retirement and has kindly offered some flexibility to allow us time to find the right person.

We would much rather find the right fit than rush the process.
