Job summary

UnitingCare Queensland is seeking a Child and Family Practitioner for the Family Intervention Service in Cairns. The role focuses on providing holistic, best‑practice support to vulnerable children, young people and families within the child protection framework.

You will deliver intensive, home‑based interventions, with case management and therapeutic skills, to promote safe reunification or parental interventions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant human services field.
• Registration with a nationally recognized professional body is desirable where relevant.
• Demonstrated skills and knowledge gained through experience working with children and families.
• Current Drivers Licence and Working with Children Check (Blue Card) are required/desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide services to vulnerable children, young people and families within the Family Intervention Service, delivering high‑quality, best‑practice support.
• Provide intensive support to help children and young people reunify with their families after out‑of‑home care or work with parents under an Intervention with Parental Agreement.
• This is a home‑based intervention role and includes case management responsibilities as well as therapeutic intervention skills.
