Job summary

Unitingcare Community in Bundaberg seeks a part-time Family Intervention Practitioner to deliver intensive in-home support for children and families under ongoing intervention by Child Safety Services. The role focuses on assessments, counselling, education, and reunification within a supportive team.

The successful candidate will hold a relevant tertiary qualification, have 2+ years of post-graduate experience, and possess a current Blue Card.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualification in psychology, social work or behavioral science (mandatory).
• Minimum of 2 years post-graduate experience in similar programs (well regarded).
• Must hold a current Blue Card (mandatory).
• Experience with at-risk children and families under child protection interventions.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Intensive Family Preservation and Intensive Family Reunification models of practice.
• Strong boundaries, task management, motivation, and initiative.
• Team player with a friendly, proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Effective communication and time management; maintain client confidentiality.
• Understanding of and commitment to St Vincent de Paul Society Queensland values and policies.
• Willing to complete pre-employment checks including National Criminal History Records Check.
• COVID-19 vaccination status recommended but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Provide intensive in-home support through assessment and counselling.
• Deliver reunification and education/training to families.
• Support children, young people and families subject to interventions.
• Work within Human Services Quality Framework and Child Protection Act.
• Maintain client confidentiality and professional boundaries.
• Collaborate with Child Safety Services and teams.
