Job summary

The Fresh Collective in Canberra is seeking a Head Chef to lead cafe and event operations with the support of management. Reporting to the Executive Chef, you will oversee day-to-day kitchen activities and ensure smooth service.

You will develop a loyal team, drive high standards, and manage corporate catering for on-site pickup and client delivery. A Diploma in Cookery is preferred, with at least three years in a leadership role and a hands-on, proactive approach.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Cookery preferred.
• Minimum of three years in a leadership role, ideally from a hotel background.
• Hands-on in a busy environment, including events.
• Adhere to WHS standards and train staff accordingly.
• A keen eye for detail and proactive approach.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and ensure smooth running of cafe and event operations.
• Produce a range of corporate catering picked up from the site and dropped to the client.
• Lead and develop the kitchen team through effective communication and inspirational leadership.
• Plan for future kitchen operations and maintain high quality and safety standards.

The Role

Reporting to the Executive Chef, the Head Chef works independently with the support of the management team.

The role will oversee and ensure the smooth running of cafe and event operations, including

• Producing a range of corporate catering which are picked up from the site and dropped to the client
• Maintain and develop a loyal team through effective communication and inspirational leadership
• Qualifications in Cookery â Diploma level preferred
• Minimum of three years in a leadership role, ideally from a hotel background
• Enjoy working in a hands on, busy environment, including events, and a true passion for cooking
• A keen eye for detail and a positive and proactive approach
• Strong and detailed business acumen for kitchen operations
• Proven ability to lead by example and foster a creative and organised environment where team members take pride in their work
• Excellent organisational skills with a proven ability to plan for the future
• Motivated, with a drive to challenge yourself daily and deliver the very best
• Adhere to WHS standards, training your staff to do the same
