Qualifications

• Formal qualification in commercial cookery.
• More than 1 year of relevant experience as a Cook or Chef.
• Knowledge of cooking techniques and safe food handling.
• Ability to maintain food quality and consistency during busy service.
• Strong communication, teamwork and time management skills.
• Roster availability including weekends and public holidays.

Responsabilités

• Prepare and cook dishes according to the cafe's menu and recipes.
• Food preparation, including washing, cutting, seasoning and storage.
• Operate ovens, grills and other kitchen equipment safely.
• Monitor cooking times and temperatures to ensure proper cooking.
• Check food quality, flavour and presentation before serving.
• Prepare meals for dietary requirements and allergies.
• Store, label and rotate ingredients to maintain freshness and minimise waste.
• Monitor stock levels and report ingredient needs to the Chef or management.
• Maintain, clean and organise workstations and storage areas.
• Follow food safety and workplace safety procedures.
• Coordinate with kitchen and front-of-house staff for timely service.

Good Neighbour Cafe is one of Canberra's busiest cafe's. Located in the suburb of Kingston, we are open 7 days a week serving breakfast, lunch, baked goods, coffee and cold drinks. Our core focus is on service, consistency and quality.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook dishes according to the cafe’s menu, recipes and quality standards
• Food preperation, including washing, cutting, seasoning, handling and storage
• Operate ovens, grills and other kitchen equipment safely
• Monitor cooking temperatures and times to ensure food is cooked correctly
• Check food quality, flavour, portion sizes and presentation before serving
• Prepare meals for dietary requirements and allergies following kitchen procedures
• Store, label and rotate ingredients correctly to maintain freshness and minimise waste
• Monitor stock levels and report ingredient requirements to the Chef or management
• Maintain, clean and organise workstations, equipment and food storage areas
• Follow food safety, hygiene and workplace safety procedures
• Coordinate with kitchen and front of house staff to ensure timely service

Qualifications and Experience

• A formal qualification relevant to commercial cookery
• More than one year of relevant experience as a Cook or Chef
