Job summary

The Maylands Hotel, part of Matthews Hospitality Group, is seeking a hands-on Chef to join our busy kitchen on a rotating 7-day roster. You’ll deliver quality dishes across all-day dining and events, work with a supportive team, and help maintain our high standards.

We value reliability, teamwork, and pride in your work. The role requires Cert III in Commercial Cookery, food safety knowledge, and the ability to lead calmly during busy services while mentoring junior team members.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Chef in a commercial kitchen.
• Trade qualification: Cert III in Commercial Cookery.
• Able to work across a 7-day roster, including weekends.
• Strong knowledge of food safety, allergens, and kitchen hygiene.
• Clear communication with a team-first mindset.
• Calm and organised during busy services.
• Demonstrated leadership in a kitchen setting.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and cooking menu items to a high standard.
• Supporting the leadership and wider kitchen team.
• Following food safety, allergen, and hygiene requirements.
• Assisting with stock control and minimising waste.
• Keeping your section clean, organised, and service-ready.
• Reporting equipment or maintenance issues as required.
• Working flexible shifts as part of a rotating roster.
