The Role
We are seeking a motivated experienced Chef de Partie (CDP) to work closely with the Head Chef and a skilled kitchen team. This role suits someone with experience in fast-paced café, restaurant, function, or event environments who is passionate about delivering high-quality food. When the Head Chef is away, the CDP will also be required to take on additional responsibilities, including assisting with food ordering, staff rostering and day-to-day kitchen operations.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage and take responsibility for an allocated kitchen section.
- Prepare, cook and present dishes according to recipes and venue standards.
- Complete mise en place efficiently and ensure the section is fully prepared for service.
- Maintain consistent food quality, portion control and presentation.
- Work closely with the Head Chef to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
- Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and OH&S.
- Ensure all food is correctly labelled, dated and stored.
- Follow FIFO procedures and minimise food wastage.
- Monitor stock levels and communicate ordering requirements.
- Assist with receiving and checking deliveries.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe workstation.
- Support and guide junior chefs, apprentices and kitchen hands where required.
- Assist with menu preparation, menu tastings and new dish development.
- Work efficiently and calmly during busy service periods.
Additional Responsibilities – When Head Chef Is Away
- Assist with daily and weekly food ordering.
- Monitor stock levels and ensure sufficient products are available for service.
- Assist with staff rostering and shift allocation according to business requirements.
- Coordinate the kitchen team and ensure adequate coverage across sections.
- Manage day-to-day kitchen operations and service priorities.
- Communicate staffing, stock, equipment and operational issues to management.
- Assist with food cost control and minimising wastage.
- Provide a clear handover to the Head Chef upon their return.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience as a Chef de Partie or in a similar role.
- Has strong knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques.
- Can confidently manage their own section.
- Has excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- Can work effectively under pressure.
- Has strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Understands food safety and hygiene requirements.
- Takes pride in food quality and presentation.
- Is reliable, professional and has a positive attitude.
- Is willing to take on additional responsibility and support the kitchen team.
- Has experience with ordering and/or rostering is desirable.
