Job summary

Dicky Beach Surf Life Saving Club is seeking a motivated, qualified chef to join our team at one of the Sunshine Coast’s most picturesque locations. This full-time salaried role offers above award rates and a flexible roster, with shifts typically from 11am to 8.30pm and an hour or more break.

The successful applicant will be trade qualified with a Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery, and have at least two years of industry experience.

Qualifications

• Trade qualified with formal cookery certification.
• Minimum 2 years industry experience.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.

Responsibilities

• Plan menus and food preparation with managers or head chef.
• Order food, kitchen supplies and equipment.
• Prepare and store food with proper stock rotation.
• Ensure presentation, portion control and high quality.
• Liaise with Head Chef or Managers on functions or special requirements.
• Maintain kitchen equipment and tools.
• Keep knowledge up to date with industry trends.
• Train and supervise apprentices and other kitchen staff.
• Assist with rosters and staffing reviews.
• Relieve and perform other duties as directed.

We offer above award rates and a flexible roster. Shifts normally work from 11am - 8.30pm with an hour (or more) break Monday to Sunday.

Duties Include:

• Plan menus and food preparation issues with managers or head chef;
• Order food, kitchen supplies and equipment;
• Prepare and store food stuffs, ensuring stock rotation and control is maintained;
• Preparation of meals, ensuring presentation, portion control and quality is of the highest standard;
• Liaise with Head Chef or Managers on Functions or Special requirements;
• Maintain kitchen equipment and individual tools of the trade;
• Constantly update knowledge and skills to keep abreast of industry trends;
• Train and supervisor apprentices, trainees and other kitchen staff;
• Assist or compile kitchen rosters and staffing reviews;
• Relieving and performing other duties as directed by Supervisor or Management.
