Job summary

Glad Group Services is seeking an experienced CCTV Control Room Operator to join the security team at the University of Sydney. The role focuses on monitoring campus CCTV, coordinating incident responses and supporting daily security operations in a fast-paced environment.

You will work a Monday-to-Friday roster, with shifts alternating between 7:00 AM–3:00 PM and 3:00 PM–11:00 PM, providing weekends off and predictable scheduling within a prestigious university setting.

Qualifications

• Current NSW Security Licence with the appropriate subclass for control room operations.
• Experience in CCTV monitoring centre or security control room.
• Knowledge of CCTV surveillance, access control and alarm monitoring systems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to operate multiple security management platforms.
• Ability to prioritise tasks and make sound decisions during emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Monitor CCTV surveillance systems across university facilities and campus locations.
• Identify, assess and respond to suspicious activities, security breaches and risks.
• Coordinate and dispatch security patrol officers in incidents, alarms and requests.
• Monitor and respond to alarms, access control and emergency notifications.
• Maintain accurate incident reports and logs.
• Liaise with university stakeholders, emergency services and security staff.
• Support emergency management procedures and coordinate incident responses.
• Ensure compliance with policies and security legislation.
• Maintain situational awareness and effective communication across security operations.

Glad Group Services is seeking an experienced, professional and proactive CCTV Control Room Operator to join our security operations team at the prestigious University of Sydney.

Working as part of a dedicated security team, you will play a critical role in monitoring campus security systems, coordinating incident responses and supporting the day-to-day security operations of one of Australia's leading universities.

Working Hours & Roster

The successful candidate will work a structured Monday-to-Friday roster, rotating weekly between the following shifts:

• Week 1 – Morning Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
• Week 2 – Afternoon Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM

The roster rotates weekly between morning and afternoon shifts, providing a predictable working schedule with weekends off.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor CCTV surveillance systems across university facilities and campus locations.
• Identify, assess and respond to suspicious activities, security breaches and potential safety risks.
• Coordinate and dispatch security patrol officers in response to incidents, alarms and requests for assistance.
• Monitor and respond to security alarms, access control systems and emergency notifications.
• Maintain accurate incident reports, daily occurrence logs and operational records.
• Liaise professionally with university stakeholders, emergency services and security personnel.
• Support emergency management procedures and coordinate responses to critical incidents.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, university procedures and relevant security legislation.
• Maintain situational awareness and effective communication across security operations.

About You

We are looking for someone who demonstrates professionalism, sound judgement, strong communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

To be successful, you will ideally possess:

• A current NSW Security Licence with the appropriate subclass for control room operations.
• Previous experience working in a CCTV monitoring centre, security control room or similar environment.
• Strong knowledge of CCTV surveillance, access control and alarm monitoring systems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong computer literacy and the ability to operate multiple security management platforms.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritise competing tasks and make sound decisions during emergencies.
• Strong attention to detail and accurate incident reporting skills.
• A professional attitude, reliability and a commitment to delivering exceptional security services.
• Availability to work both rostered shifts on a weekly rotational basis.

Experience working within universities, hospitals, large commercial facilities or other complex security environments will be highly regarded.
