Northern Stevedoring Services Pty Ltd. is seeking casual Forklift Operators/Machinery Operators to support our Townsville port logistics operations.

You will handle forklift duties, loading/unloading, packing orders and assist with general warehouse tasks in a busy terminal and bulk shed facility. Applicants should hold a compulsory forklift high risk work license; loader and excavator experience are desirable but not essential.

Qualifications

• Strong ability to work autonomously and as part of a small team.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to quality, health, safety and environmental guidelines.
• Participate in toolbox talks and resolve issues at team level.
• Carry out housekeeping to keep areas safe.
• Complete daily pre-start checks on machinery.
• Prepare basic written reports when required.
• Pick and pack orders and load/unload cargoes.
• Perform other duties as directed by Port Logistics Manager.

About the Role

We are seeking casual Forklift Operators/ Machinery Operators to join our dynamic Port Logistics operations in Townsville. We are seeking experience forklift operators with loader and Excavator experience for our busy warehouse, terminal and bulk shed facility, with some weekend and night shift work.

Key responsibilities:

As a Forklift Operator, your responsibilities will include:

Adhering to NSS’s Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental guidelines at all times.

Participation in Toolbox Talks and actively contribute to resolve production and safety issues at team level.

Carry out general housekeeping duties to ensure work areas are kept tidy and free of hazards.

Complete daily pre-start checks on machinery.

Basic written reports when required.

Pick and pack orders.

Loading and unloading trucks with bulk and general cargos.

Perform other duties as requested by the Port Logistics Manager.

About You

We are looking for candidates who meet the following essential requirements:

Compulsory forklift high risk work license

Loader ticket with experience is desirable but not essential

Excavator, reach stacker experience is desirable but not essential

Strong ability to work autonomously with a proactive approach to task resolution.

Flexibility and adaptability to work in a fast-paced and demanding environment.

Ability to work effectively within a small team.

Regular drug and alcohol testing is conducted.

Strong teamwork skills and the ability to work effectively with others.

Must be physically fit, with good overall health to meet the demands of the role.
