Job summary

uWorkin is seeking an experienced Freight Operator for their Stuart depot in Townsville. This casual role involves operating heavy equipment and conducting maintenance checks to ensure safety and efficiency in operations.

Qualifications

• Ability to demonstrate mechanical aptitude.
• RS Class Drivers Licence preferred.
• DG licence can be obtained during employment.
• Strong commitment to safety and knowledge of operational rules.

Job description

Location: Stuart, Townsville

We’re looking for an experienced Freight Operator to join our team at our Stuart depot in Townsville on a casual basis (28.5 hours per week). This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands‑on work, operating heavy equipment, and being part of a team that values safety and flexibility.

Responsibilities

• Operate medium/heavy forklifts and reach stacker; provision, service, clean and perform lower‑level maintenance on rolling stock.
• Serviceability checks on all machines.
• Operate and maintain heavy lifting equipment (exceeding 16 tonne) and other sundry terminal and site equipment.

Qualifications

• Ability to demonstrate mechanical aptitude.
• RS Class Drivers Licence (preferred).
• DG licence would be highly regarded, but not essential (will be obtained during employment).
• Forklift & crane tickets.
• Strong commitment to safety and knowledge of rules and regulations of operations area, Workplace Health & Safety, and Dangerous Goods.
• Strong problem‑solving and communication skills.
• A willingness to work day, afternoon & night shift (up to 12 hr shifts) and including weekend work as required.
