Job summary

East Gippsland Shire Council is seeking a friendly Customer Service Officer for the Omeo Service Centre. You will be the first point of contact in person, by phone and online, providing accurate information and guiding customers to council and community services.

The role involves processing payments, handling enquiries, and supporting library, visitor information and Centrelink Agency services to keep the service centre welcoming and well-presented. This casual position is based on-site in Omeo.

Qualifications

• At least two years' experience in customer service, including call centre or high-volume phone experience.
• Customer-focused approach with the ability to ask appropriate questions and resolve enquiries.
• Strong initiative, problem-solving and time management skills.
• Experience with cash handling, balancing and end-of-day banking.
• Confident computer skills and experience using Microsoft software, internet and database systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide welcoming, accurate and timely customer service across face-to-face, phone and online channels.
• Respond to customer enquiries, resolve matters where possible and accurately record requests in Council systems.
• Process payments and complete balancing, banking and online application processing.
• Deliver library, visitor information, Centrelink Agency and general service centre activities.
