Job summary

Spotless is seeking a Casual Chef to join the Adelaide Immigration Detention Centre team in Kilburn, SA. You will prepare culturally diverse meals, maintain kitchen hygiene, and support stock control under the Catering Manager.

Ideal candidates hold Certificate III in Commercial Cookery, a Food Safety Supervisor Certificate, and WWCC, with strong communication and teamwork to ensure high-quality outcomes for clients.

Qualifications

Certificate III or higher in Commercial Cookery.
Food Safety Supervisor Certificate.
Working with Children Check (Employee) – mandatory or willing to apply.
Knowledge of menu and nutritional standards.
HACCP Food Safety guidelines understanding.
Exemplary bulk cooking skills (aged care or resources experience ideal).
Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

Assemble and prepare food as directed by Catering Manager, maintain cleanliness.
Monitor HACCP compliance and complete hygiene documentation.

We currently have a Casual Chef's role available for an experienced Chef to join the Spotless team located at Adelaide Immigration Detention Centre, Kilburn, SA. Spotless, as a subcontractor to Secure Journeys, will be responsible for preparing and serving culturally diverse, nutritious meals contributing to the overall health and well-being of those in the centres.

What you'll do

The role has a broad remit, with key responsibilities outlined below:

Assemble, prepare, and produce food requirements as directed by the Catering Manager. This includes food safety, maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen, managing stock control, and adhering to all kitchen policies and procedures.
Ensure compliance with the HACCP Food Safety Plan, monitoring food safety standards and practices, maintaining hygiene in food preparation areas, and completing all Food Safety Documentation accurately and timely.
Monitor and enforce food storage standards, ensuring proper handling and rotation of stock using First In, First Out (FIFO) principles, and maintaining appropriate holding temperatures for perishable items.
Ensure compliance with our Standards of Business Conduct and contribute to a culture of safety and quality improvement.

What you'll bring

Certificate III or higher in Commercial Cookery and Food Safety Supervisor Certificate
Current Working with Children Check (Employee) - Mandatory or willing to apply
Knowledge of menu and nutritional standards
Full understanding of HACCP Food Safety guidelines
Exemplary bulk cooking skills (ideal Aged Care or Resources experience)
