Job summary

First Nations Jobs is seeking Catering Assistants to join the Spotless team at Villawood Immigration Detention Centre, Pinkenba QLD. You will support meal prep and service, uphold food safety standards, and work under supervision to deliver high-quality meals for the centre.

Ideal candidates hold a Certificate II or higher in Kitchen Operations, have valid Food Safety Certificates, and possess a current Working with Children Check.

Qualifications

• Certificate II in Kitchen Operations (or higher) mandatory.
• Valid Food Safety Certificates required.
• Current Working with Children Check (Employee) mandatory.
• Prior experience in a commercial kitchen setting.
• Solid knowledge of HACCP food safety guidelines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in assembling, preparing, and producing meals as directed by the Chef Manager or Head Chef.
• Maintain cleanliness across food preparation and dining areas, including equipment and utensils.
• Adhere to the HACCP Food Safety Plan by upholding food safety and hygiene standards, completing all documentation accurately and on time.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and ensure it remains clean and well-maintained.

We are currently looking for Catering Assistants to join the Spotless team at Villawood Immigration Detention Centre in based in Pinkenba QLD. As a subcontractor to Secure Journeys, Spotless is responsible for preparing and serving nutritious, culturally diverse meals that support the overall health and well-being of individuals within the centre.

We're seeking dedicated Catering Assistants who take pride in delivering high-quality food and service. The successful candidate must have a Certificate II or higher in Commercial Cookery.

• Assist in assembling, preparing, and producing meals as directed by the Chef Manager or Head Chef.
• Maintain cleanliness across food preparation and dining areas, including equipment and utensils.
• Adhere to the HACCP Food Safety Plan by upholding food safety and hygiene standards, completing all documentation accurately and on time.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and ensure it remains clean and well-maintained.

To be successful, you'll have:

• Certificate II in Kitchen Operations (or higher) - Mandatory requirement
• Valid Food Safety Certificates
• Current Working with Children Check (Employee) - Mandatory requirement
• Prior experience in a commercial kitchen setting
• Sound knowledge of HACCP Food Safety guidelines
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent teamwork and interpersonal abilities.
