Job summary

Australian Red Cross in Townsville is seeking a dedicated tenancy support practitioner to assist individuals and families at risk of losing housing by identifying needs and helping set achievable goals.

You will conduct holistic assessments, coordinate with partner agencies, and contribute to co-design and innovation to improve responses for clients.

About the role

Tenancy sustainability iscrucial in preventing and addressing homelessness by providing support to individuals and families at risk of losing their housing or who are struggling to maintain their tenancies.This program offers a range of services, including tenancy advice, case management, financial support, advocacy, and skills development, often tailored to complex needs like mental illness, substance misuse, or family conflict.

In this position you will provide individualised support to clients to identify strengths and needs and assist in setting and attaining identified goals.

You will conduct holistic assessments and collaborate with other agencies and organisations to source appropriate support for clients. In addition, you will also contribute to co-design processes and adapt and innovate ways of working to improve Red Cross's response to the needs of clients.

What you will bring

• Proven ability to provide high quality, specialist casework support and case management including holistic assessment of client needs and development of case plans.
• Demonstrated cultural competence and the ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds
• Proven ability to identify service gaps and manage complex cases within a context of competing priorities
• Demonstrated effectiveness in contributing to interagency collaboration and ability to lead collaboration, advocate and network with internal and external stakeholders (which can include statutory and law enforcement agencies
• A current Driver’s licence and Working with Children Check are mandatory requirements for this role
