Job summary

IMPACT Community Services in Hervey Bay, QLD, is seeking a Case Manager for our Intensive Family Support program. This full-time, fixed-term role runs until 30 June 2027 with potential extension, to support vulnerable families to safely care for children and achieve positive outcomes.

You will work with families facing domestic violence and child protection concerns, conduct assessments, provide home-based support, and collaborate with DFV practitioners and Child Safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor level degree in Human Services or related discipline.
• Experience supporting vulnerable families or understanding family violence and child protection.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to advocate and negotiate.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed, culturally safe practice

Responsibilities

• Work directly with families experiencing domestic and family violence, trauma and child protection concerns.
• Support families to create positive, sustainable change and improve safety and wellbeing outcomes for children.
• Conduct comprehensive assessments, case planning and goal setting with vulnerable families.
• Undertake home visits and provide practical, strengths-based support in the community.
• Collaborate with specialist DFV practitioners, Child Safety and other community agencies.
• Manage caseload within a supportive multidisciplinary team.
• Apply trauma-informed, culturally safe and family-centred practice approaches.

About the Opportunity

This role is to support vulnerable and at-risk families to build their capacity to safely care for and nurture their children.

Key Responsibilities

• Work directly with families experiencing domestic and family violence, trauma and child protection concerns.
• Support families to create positive, sustainable change and improve safety and wellbeing outcomes for children.
• Conduct comprehensive assessments, case planning and goal setting with vulnerable families.
• Undertake home visits and provide practical, strengths-based support in the community.
• Collaborate with specialist DFV practitioners, Child Safety and other community agencies.
• Manage your own caseload while working within a supportive and experienced multidisciplinary team.
• Apply trauma-informed, culturally safe and family-centred practice approaches.

About you

• Degree qualification in Human Services or a related discipline.
• Experience supporting vulnerable children, young people and families, or a strong understanding of the challenges they face which includes family violence, child protection concerns
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport, advocate, negotiate and manage conflict effectively.
• Strong case management, assessment and report-writing skills, including the ability to develop evidence-based recommendations.
• Ability to manage competing priorities, and timeframes.
• David Mandell’s Safe and Together methodology & current knowledge of Domestic Violence legislation.
