Job summary

VAE Group in Darwin is seeking a commercially driven Business Development Manager to expand our presence with Smarter HVAC Solutions. This sales-focused role aims to convert opportunities into long-term service and maintenance contracts by building strong customer relationships.

You will understand customer operations, identify where VAE can add value, and work with our established technical and operational teams to succeed in this role.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated success in business development, sales or account growth.
• Experience within HVAC, refrigeration, mechanical or related technical industry.
• Track record of turning opportunities into profitable work.
• Strong customer relationships with technical and commercial stakeholders.
• Experience developing new accounts and growing existing ones.
• Commercial acumen, including pricing, margins and negotiations.
• Experience preparing quotations, tenders and proposals.
• Confident in initiating conversations and pursuing opportunities.
• Strong presentation and written/verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of the HVAC market in Darwin/NT and local relationships is valued.

If you are an experienced and commercially driven Business Development Manager and you understand the HVAC and mechanical services industry, this is an opportunity to join VAE Group in Darwin. This is a sales focused role with a clear objective – expand VAE’s presence in the market as leaders in “Smarter HVAC Solutions”, build strong customer relationships, and convert opportunities into profitable, long-term service and maintenance contracts.

We’re looking for someone who can understand a customer’s operation, identify where VAE can add value and turn that conversation into a long-term commercial relationship. You will have the backing of an established technical and operational business to be able to succeed in your role.

About you

• Demonstrated success in business development, sales or account growth
• Experience within HVAC, refrigeration, mechanical services, building services or a closely related technical industry
• A track record of identifying opportunities and converting them into profitable work
• Strong customer relationships and the ability to build credibility with technical and commercial stakeholders
• Experience developing new accounts as well as growing existing customer relationships
• Commercial acumen, including an understanding of pricing, margins and contract negotiations
• Experience preparing or contributing to quotations, tenders and proposals
• The confidence to initiate conversations, prospect for new business and pursue opportunities
• Strong presentation, written and verbal communication skills
• A knowledge of the HVAC market in Darwin/NT and established local industry relationships will be highly regarded
