Edison Talent is recruiting an experienced Bookkeeper for an accounting practice in Brisbane. You will work across a varied portfolio of business clients, keeping their accounts up to date and managing bookkeeping and payroll from start to finish.

Qualifications

• Two years Australian bookkeeping experience, preferably in an accounting firm.
• Ability to manage multiple clients and communicate with owners and senior staff.
• Xero certification or at least one year of practical Xero experience.
• Experience with Xero payroll and STP finalisation.

Responsibilities

• Manage bookkeeping across multiple clients, including bank, GST and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Process payroll and superannuation, completing STP finalisation and responding to payroll queries.
• Prepare BAS, IAS and other required reports.
• Assist with financial statements and management reporting alongside the accounting team.
• Liaise with clients, accountants and the ATO.
• Provide clients with Xero training and help improve their bookkeeping processes.
• Review junior team members’ work, providing feedback and assisting with offshore team coordination.

The opportunity

Edison Talent is recruiting an experienced Bookkeeper for an accounting practice in Brisbane.

You will work across a varied portfolio of business clients, keeping their accounts up to date and managing bookkeeping and payroll from start to finish. This is a role for someone who enjoys working directly with clients, solving problems and helping businesses get more out of Xero.

Alongside your client work, you will work closely with the accounting team, review work prepared by junior team members and help coordinate offshore workflow. You will also contribute to improving systems and growing the practice’s bookkeeping services.

What will you be doing?

• Managing bookkeeping across multiple clients, including bank, GST and balance sheet reconciliations
• Processing payroll and superannuation, completing STP finalisation and responding to payroll queries
• Preparing Business Activity Statements, Instalment Activity Statements and other required reports
• Assisting with financial statements and management reporting alongside the accounting team
• Liaising with clients, accountants and the ATO
• Providing clients with Xero training and helping improve their bookkeeping processes
• Reviewing junior team members’ work, providing feedback and assisting with offshore team coordination

What are we looking for?

You will need at least two years of Australian bookkeeping experience, including experience working within an accounting firm. You should be comfortable managing multiple clients and confident communicating with business owners and senior staff.

You will also bring:

• Xero certification or at least one year of practical Xero experience
• Xero Payroll certification and the ability to independently process client payroll
• A Certificate IV in Bookkeeping or a relevant undergraduate qualification
• Experience using Xero integrations such as Receipt Bank, Hubdoc or Deputy
• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
• Experience reviewing work or guiding junior team members

Experience with third-party payment gateways and payroll applications will be highly regarded.
