Job summary

JSM Accounting Group in Queensland seeks a senior bookkeeper to manage a portfolio of clients in a fast-moving, cloud-based practice. You will own end-to-end bookkeeping, ensure accuracy, and meet deadlines with minimal follow-up.

You'll be a confident Xero expert, handling BAS/IAS lodgments, payroll, and reconciliations while mentoring junior team members. This hands-on role rewards initiative, organization, and proactive problem-solving in a supportive firm.

Qualifications

• Senior bookkeeper with strong Australian bookkeeping knowledge.
• Advanced Xero user with hands-on experience.
• Ability to manage deadlines and work across multiple clients.

Responsibilities

• Managing end-to-end bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients.
• Completing profit and loss and balance-sheet reconciliations.
• Preparing and lodging BAS and IAS.
• Processing payroll and superannuation.
• Reviewing client files and identifying errors or inconsistencies.
• Maintaining accurate workpapers, records and file notes.
• Communicating directly with clients to obtain information and resolve queries.
• Monitoring deadlines and proactively managing your workflow.
• Working closely with accountants to ensure files are complete and accurate.
• Supporting and reviewing junior bookkeeping team members where required.

This is a hands-on role for someone who is highly efficient, technologically capable and genuinely enjoys working in a fast-moving accounting practice. You'll manage a portfolio of bookkeeping clients, take ownership of deadlines and deliver accurate, reliable work without needing to be constantly followed up. This is a Xero-only practice, so strong, practical Xero experience is essential.
