Job summary

Charterhouse in Melbourne is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join a growing public practice accounting firm. You will manage your own portfolio of bookkeeping clients across diverse industries, focusing on high-value work while supported by an offshore team.

This role offers flexible working arrangements, modern systems, and ongoing professional development as part of a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Previous bookkeeping experience within a public practice accounting firm or bookkeeping firm.
• Experience managing multiple client portfolios.
• Strong knowledge of BAS, payroll and statutory compliance requirements.
• Experience using Xero and other cloud-based accounting software.
• Excellent reconciliation skills and strong attention to detail.
• Outstanding communication and client relationship management skills.
• The ability to prioritise competing deadlines while working collaboratively within a team.

Responsibilities

• Managing end-to-end bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients
• Processing payroll and ensuring compliance with BAS, IAS, STP, Payroll Tax, TPAR and WorkCover obligations
• Preparing reconciliations, management reports and financial information
• Managing client onboarding, file reviews and clean-ups
• Building trusted relationships with clients and providing exceptional service
• Reviewing work completed by the offshore team to ensure accuracy and quality
• Identifying process improvements and helping clients streamline their bookkeeping functions
