Job summary

MW Recruitment is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper for a respected accounting practice in Cairns. You will handle a varied client portfolio with autonomy, including work-from-home flexibility after settling in.

You will manage AP/AR, payroll, BAS/GST preparation, month-end reporting, and liaise with clients and accountants to ensure accurate files.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Bookkeeping or Accounting or currently working towards it
• Proven bookkeeping experience, ideally within an accounting practice
• Working knowledge of Xero and MYOB
• Solid understanding of GST, BAS and payroll obligations
• Friendly, reliable and well organised with an eye for detail

• Processing accounts payable and receivable and reconciling bank accounts
• Payroll processing and superannuation lodgements
• BAS and GST preparation
• Month end reporting and general ledger maintenance
• Being a point of contact for clients and following up missing information
• Passing clean, accurate files through to the accountants

THE ROLE:

Working alongside the accountants, you will look after the bookkeeping needs of a portfolio of small to medium business clients.

• Processing accounts payable and receivable and reconciling bank accounts
• Payroll processing and superannuation lodgements
• BAS and GST preparation
• Month end reporting and general ledger maintenance
• Being a point of contact for clients and following up missing information

THE INDIVIDUAL:

• Certificate IV in Bookkeeping or Accounting, or currently working towards it
