Job summary

STE Financial in Kingscliff NSW is seeking a senior bookkeeper to deliver full cycle bookkeeping in Xero for a portfolio of clients. You will manage payroll, BAS/IAS, GST and client communications with clear, jargon-free language, ensuring timely month-end close.

Part-time, three days a week, with potential to grow hours. This role suits an experienced bookkeeper who thrives in a practical practice setting and takes ownership of accuracy and workflow improvement.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of Australian bookkeeping experience, ideally across multiple clients.
• Advanced Xero skills including payroll, bank rules, tracking categories and integrations.
• Solid GST, PAYG, superannuation and STP knowledge with BAS review or lodgement.

Responsibilities

• Perform full cycle bookkeeping in Xero for a client portfolio.
• Process payroll, interpreting awards, leave accruals, superannuation and STP.
• Prepare BAS and IAS and manage GST/PAYG calendars.
• Be the first contact for your own client portfolio and explain issues clearly.
• Review and archive files and assist in onboarding new clients to standard Xero setup.

Job description

STE Financial is a Kingscliff practice pairing accounting and tax with lending under one roof. The senior bookkeeper owns the accuracy and rhythm of our clients' day to day books.

What you own

• Full cycle portfolio bookkeeping in Xero: coding, bank and credit card reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, and month end close.
• Accurate payroll cycles including award interpretation, leave accruals, superannuation and Single Touch Payroll.
• Prepare and lodge BAS and IAS, manage GST and PAYG positions, and keep ATO lodgement calendars on track.
• First point of contact for your own client portfolio, answering in plain English and flagging issues early.
• Clean, reviewed files and management reports handed to the accounting team.
• Improve and document workflows, onboard new clients onto our standard Xero setup, and review junior work.

Skills and experience

• Five or more years of Australian bookkeeping experience, ideally across multiple clients in a practice or outsourced setting.
• Advanced Xero skills including payroll, bank rules, tracking categories and common app integrations.
• Confident with GST, PAYG, superannuation and STP, and comfortable preparing BAS for review or lodgement.
• Cert IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping or equivalent experience, with BAS agent registration or eligibility to register.
• Clear written and verbal communication, and the patience to explain things without jargon.
• Self managing and deadline driven across a multi client workload.

Part time, 3 days a week in Kingscliff NSW, with the option to increase hours over time.

Cert IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping or equivalent experience. BAS agent registration or eligibility to register.
