Job summary

Liontown Resources Limited in Western Australia is seeking a Boilermaker for the Kathleen Valley operation. You will join the Maintenance Mechanical team, repairing, fabricating and installing fixed plant components to high safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Boilermaker or Heavy Fabrication trade qualification.
• Current welding tickets/qualifications for site processes.
• Proven mining/heavy industrial fabrication experience.
• Experience with structural repairs, fabrication and welding on fixed plant.
• Ability to read drawings, follow safe work procedures and use PPE.
• Unrestricted WA driver's licence.

Responsibilities

• Carry out welding (MIG, TIG, stick) and fabrication of structural steel and components to Australian standards.
• Fabricate, repair and install conveyors, chutes, screens, hoppers and fixed plant structures from drawings.
• Fault find and repair structural/wear-related defects and replace worn components.
• Complete fabrication/welding scopes safely during planned shutdowns; assist with permits and isolations.
• Apply lock out/tag out and isolation procedures; work within permits to work and energy control instructions.
• Use SAP to raise work notifications, book parts, record hours, and hand over information to the next shift.

Liontown Limited (ASX: LTR) is one of Australia’s newest lithium producers, and we are just getting started. At our Kathleen Valley Lithium Operation in Western Australia, we produce spodumene concentrate, a key ingredient in the batteries that power electric vehicles and store renewable energy.

It is a fast-moving, hands-on operation where the work you do is visible every day, and where skilled tradespeople are central to keeping the plant safe, reliable and running.

The opportunity

Reporting to the Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor, you will join the Maintenance Mechanical team as a Boilermaker on the Kathleen Valley fixed plant. You will work alongside the Leading Hand, fitters, other trades and apprentices, repairing, fabricating and installing structural steel, chutes, screens and other plant components to a high standard of safety and quality.

What you will be doing

• carry out welding (MIG, TIG and stick) and fabrication of structural steel, plate work, chutes and mechanical components to relevant Australian standards
• fabricate, repair and install conveyors, chutes, screens, hoppers and other fixed plant structures, working from engineering drawings and sketches
• fault find and repair structural and wear-related defects, and replace worn liners, wear plates and other high-wear components
• complete assigned fabrication and welding scopes safely and on schedule during planned shutdowns, supporting shutdown contractors with permitting, isolations and access
• apply lock out, tag out and isolation procedures correctly, and work within permits to work, energy control instructions and job hazard analyses
• use SAP to raise work notifications, book out parts and record job feedback, materials and hours, and provide clear handover information to the oncoming shift.

What we are looking for

You will bring:

• a Boilermaker or Heavy Fabrication trade qualification (Certificate III in Engineering, Fabrication Trade, or equivalent)
• current welding tickets or qualifications relevant to the processes used on site
• proven experience as a Boilermaker or Heavy Fabricator in a mining, mineral processing or heavy industrial environment
• experience with structural repairs, fabrication and welding on fixed plant equipment such as chutes, conveyors, screens and hoppers
• the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, follow safe work procedures and use personal protective equipment, and communicate clearly in handovers and job records
• a current unrestricted driver’s licence and the ability to satisfy standard Western Australian mine site requirements.

Working at heights, confined space, and dogging and rigging tickets are desirable, as is experience with a structured maintenance management system such as SAP.
