Job summary

Mackay Sugar is seeking Boiler Attendant Trainee/Operator for the 2026 Crushing Season at our Racecourse facilities in Queensland. You will work under the Shift Supervisor to operate and monitor steam turbines, boilers, and generators in our power stations across mills.

No formal qualifications are required; industrial experience is welcomed. The role offers a pathway to permanent positions for successful trainees and potential for career progression within Mackay Sugar.

Qualifications

• Boiler Station Attendant / Trainee Roles – No qualification required; industrial experience preferred.
• Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, you will operate and monitor steam turbines, boilers and electrical generators.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor steam turbines, boilers and electrical generators at the power station across mills.
• Be part of a team ensuring safe and efficient operation during the crushing season.
• Possibility to progress to Boiler Operator/Assistant Boiler Operator roles over time.

About the role

Join Mackay’s largest renewable energy provider – Mackay Sugar, for the 2026 Crushing Season. Each of the three Mackay Sugar Mills incorporates an integrated power station, supplying electricity and thermal steam to power the milling process, as well as providing electricity to the both the Mackay Region and national grid. Reporting directly to the Shift Supervisor, you will have the responsibility for operating and monitoring steam turbines, boilers, electrical generators in the power station at each of our mills.
