Job summary

Nillumbik Shire Council is seeking a Biodiversity Officer to protect and enhance biodiversity, support ecological health and climate resilience across Nillumbik's natural environment. You will provide evidence-based biodiversity advice to Council and the community, deliver conservation projects and collaborate with landholders and partner organisations to support sound land management.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in ecology, natural resource management or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience delivering biodiversity conservation projects and programs.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead or support delivery of the Biodiversity Strategy projects and programs.
• Provide biodiversity advice to landholders, community groups and Council teams.
• Support landholders to protect and enhance biodiversity on their properties.
• Build community knowledge and participation in biodiversity conservation through engagement and education.
• Contribute to biodiversity monitoring, evaluation and reporting to inform priorities.
