Job summary

Kalis is seeking a Bar & Gaming Duty Manager to lead on-shift operations across busy shifts in Hobart. Reporting to the Venue Manager, you'll ensure a safe, compliant, and high-quality guest experience.

You'll manage the floor, coach staff, handle cash and gaming systems, and work rotating rosters including nights, weekends and public holidays, with a strong emphasis on responsible service and team leadership.

Qualifications

• Experience as duty manager or supervisor in a licensed venue (gaming experience valued).
• Tasmanian RSA certification and RCG training required.
• Ability to handle cash and operate POS/gaming systems with accuracy.
• Calm, decisive leadership during busy periods.
• People-first leadership style building a positive team culture.
• Availability across rotating roster including nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Lead bar and gaming operations on shift from open to close.
• Set up and brief the team, manage breaks and service levels.
• Ensure gaming operations comply with Tasmanian legislation and L&G Commission requirements.
• Model responsible service of alcohol and responsible gambling.
• Handle cash, floats, reconciliations and end-of-shift reporting.
• Resolve patron issues calmly and professionally.
• Coach and motivate the team and assist with training onboarding.
• Assist stock control, ordering and venue presentation.
• Collaborate with Venue Manager and other departments to run venue smoothly.

About the role

Reporting to the Venue Manager, you\'ll lead bar and gaming operations on shift and make sure every guest has a safe, enjoyable and compliant experience.

What you\'ll be doing

• Leading bar and gaming operations across your shifts, from open to close
• Running the floor: setting up and briefing the team, handling breaks and staying on top of service levels
• Making sure gaming operations meet all Tasmanian gaming legislation, Liquor and Gaming Commission requirements and our responsible gambling obligations
• Practising and modelling responsible service of alcohol and responsible conduct of gambling at all times
• Handling cash, floats, reconciliations and end-of-shift reporting accurately
• Dealing with patron issues, incidents and escalations calmly and professionally
• Coaching and motivating the team, and helping with training and onboarding
• Supporting stock control, ordering and keeping the venue presentation high
• Working closely with the Venue Manager and other departments to keep the whole venue running smoothly

What you\'ll bring

• Previous duty manager or supervisor experience in a licensed venue (gaming experience is highly regarded)
• A current Tasmanian RSA, plus RCG (Responsible Conduct of Gambling) training
• Confidence handling cash and point-of-sale/gaming systems, with sharp attention to detail
• Calm, clear decision-making when it\'s busy and when things go wrong
• A people-first leadership style that builds a positive, accountable team culture
