Job summary

RSM Australia is seeking an Assistant Manager to lead audit engagements, deliver high-quality audits, and help grow the Perth Audit & Assurance practice. You will collaborate with Senior Managers and Partners on risk, quality, and delivery outcomes while coaching junior staff.

The role involves client interaction across industries including government, education, manufacturing, and healthcare, with opportunities to progress to Manager and contribute to business development.

Qualifications

• 4-5 years external audit experience, including team management.
• In-depth knowledge of the Corporations Act, Australian Accounting Standards, Australian Auditing Standards, and relevant regulatory requirements.
• Exceptional communication and people skills.
• Proven experience leading or supporting audit engagements with managed timelines.
• Ability to work autonomously while collaborating within a leadership team.
• High attention to detail and commitment to audit quality.

Responsibilities

• Lead the identification, assessment and resolution of complex technical accounting and auditing matters, exercising sound professional judgement and escalating where appropriate.
• Reviews of financial statements and related disclosures to ensure compliance with Accounting Standards and relevant regulatory requirements.
• Assist in the preparation of client-facing audit outputs, including reports, presentations, and professional communications to management and those charged with governance.
• Manage multiple audit engagements concurrently, coordinating engagement teams, timelines and resources to ensure delivery of quality outcomes within agreed timeframes.
• Mentor, train and support audit team members, fostering capability development while ensuring compliance with RSM methodology, quality standards and firm policies.
• Develop business development capability in preparation for progression to Manager, including supporting client relationship management, contributing to proposals, and identifying opportunities to expand or deepen client engagements in collaboration with Partners, Directors and Managers.
