Job summary

St Johns College Dubbo is seeking an ATSI Learning Support Officer to join our school community. The role focuses on assisting students with learning needs, delivering inclusive classroom support and facilitating targeted programs within a Catholic education framework.

The successful applicant will work under teachers' direction, contribute to Personal Learning Plans and collaboratively implement strategies to support student learning across years 7–12.

Qualifications

• Hold or are working towards a Certificate III in School Based Education Support OR a NESA recognised Teaching degree.
• Valid NSW Working with Children Check.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver effective learning outcomes.
• Experience working with children with a range of needs.
• Experience in both Primary and secondary schools.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-class support for teachers and students with learning needs.
• Support and supervise students with additional learning needs in and out of the classroom.
• Facilitate remedial reading programs (MacqLit).
• Assist with data collection and maintenance for NCCD and disability provisions.
• Undertake administrative tasks supporting NCCD and disability provisions.
• Contribute to planning and implementation of Personal Learning Plans.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to ensure inclusive learning experiences.
• Apply behaviour management strategies to foster a supportive learning environment.

About the Role

We are seeking a caring, supportive and collaborative ATSI Learning Support Officer to join our school community and assist students to feel confident, included and engaged in their learning.

Working alongside classroom teachers and school staff, the ATSI Learning Support Officer will provide support to students with a range of learning needs, helping them to participate fully in classroom activities and develop their skills and independence.

The role works under the direction of classroom teachers and involves applying appropriate teaching and learning strategies to support each student’s individual needs and development. The successful applicant will be responsible for:

• Providing in-class support for teachers and their students with learning needs
• Supporting and supervising students with additional learning needs in and out of the classroom environment
• Facilitating the remedial reading program (MacqLit)
• Assisting with data collection and maintenance for legislative compliance (NCCD)
• Administrative tasks in support of NCCD and disability provisions
• Input into the planning and implementation of Personal Learning Plans
• Collaborating with classroom teachers to ensure the inclusion of all students in all learning experiences
• Applying appropriate behaviour management strategies that contribute to the establishment and maintenance of a supportive learning environment
