Job summary

AECOM in Adelaide is seeking an Associate Director – Structural Engineer (NSQEP) to lead seismic and structural design on defence, research and nuclear projects. You will mentor engineers, coordinate across multidisciplinary teams and ensure regulatory compliance with the highest technical standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Civil or Structural Engineering is required; postgraduate in seismic or nuclear engineering is advantageous.
• 15+ years' experience in structural engineering with seismic and safety-critical projects.
• Nuclear NSQEP experience or exposure to highly regulated nuclear environments is preferred.
• Chartered Engineer and Registered Professional Engineer (or equivalent).
• Strong knowledge of Australian and international seismic, nuclear and structural design standards.
• Proficiency in advanced structural analysis software (FEA packages, ETABS, SpaceGass, RAPT).
• Proven leadership, communication and project delivery skills in multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the structural and seismic design of complex buildings and safety-critical facilities in defence, research and nuclear sectors.
• Provide technical leadership as NSQEP and ensure compliance with codes and safety requirements.
• Deliver advanced structural and seismic analysis, including dynamic assessment and resilience studies.
• Manage multidisciplinary project teams and coordinate with clients and stakeholders.
• Review and assure quality of structural deliverables across all project phases.
• Support nuclear safety cases, regulatory submissions and technical justifications.
• Mentor engineers and grow AECOM's technical capability and client relationships.
