Job summary

University of Canberra seeks an Associate Dean Indigenous for the Faculty of Design, Technology & Society. This senior academic leadership role focuses on advancing Indigenous excellence, growing Indigenous research capacity, and driving institutional advocacy within a newly amalgamated faculty.

Reporting to the Executive Dean, the ADI will lead strategy, student success, and engagement across the faculty, collaborating with senior university leaders to implement Indigenous priorities and

Qualifications

• PhD in a relevant discipline within the faculty profile.
• Established research profile with publication record.
• Demonstrated success in HDR supervision and research mentorship.
• Significant academic leadership across Indigenous learning, teaching, research, engagement and/or strategic initiatives.
• Strong understanding of contemporary Indigenous issues in higher education.
• Experience as an Associate Dean Indigenous or comparable leadership role is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead Indigenous research strategy and capability development across the Faculty.
• Maintain a strong and active academic research profile.
• Supervise HDR candidates, with a focus on Indigenous research students.
• Foster interdisciplinary and community-led research partnerships that create meaningful outcomes for Indigenous peoples and communities.
• Develop and strengthen research collaborations across academia, industry, government and community sectors.
• Support the growth of competitive research funding opportunities and strategic initiatives.
